The European Nuclear Decommissioning Training Facility
|
| The first session has been held in Mol, Belgium -
November, 18 – 29, 2002 |
|
|
Background
In the Fifth Framework Programme on Community activities in the field of research,
technological development and demonstration for the period 1998 to 2002,
SCK·CEN co-ordinates a project called European Nuclear Decommissioning
Training Facility (EUNDETRAF).
EUNDETRAF is a consortium of main European decommissioners, such as
SCK·CEN (Belgium),
EWN (Germany),
KGB (Germany),
Belgatom (Belgium),
SOGIN (Italy),
Universität Hannover (Germany),
IRSN (France)
and
JCAT (Russia).
Objective
EUNDETRAF's goal is to disseminate the European decommissioning knowledge by
holding two times a yearly training course to those who are confronted with one
or more decommissioning projects of a nuclear facility. Each training course
exists of a one-week theoretical and a one-week practical part. The theoretical
part (oral presentations) is aimed for a broad audience while the practical part
(visits and case-studies) is for a limited audience.
Principal results
From November 18 till November 29, SCK·CEN organised the first training
course in the framework of EUNDETRAF, involving a lot of different SCK·CEN
services. Thirty participants (see picture below) of 14 different European
countries and even one from Taiwan participated in the theoretical part while
nine participants had a practical training.
This included the demonstration of two codes (DEMATO and VISIPLAN), four
detailed visits (
BR3,
CBZ,
Q2 and
lab LNK ) and a case study of
the dismantling of a tank.
There was a very good feedback of the participants on both parts of the course.
Future developments
The second course will be held in Hannover and Greifswald (Germany) in the
autumn of next year.
While the preparations are already started, preliminary contacts are made with
JCAT to hold a similar training course in Russia.
